1957 Glen-L Mist Miss Wood Boat Front

1957 Glen-L Mist Miss

Glen-L Marine Designs has been providing home boat builders with plans and materials since 1953. Still rocking 60+ years later Glen-L now offers plans for building more than 300 different boats. Glen-L’s offerings range from wooden canoes and rowboats to fiberglass or steel houseboats and workboats. Glen-L has plans to fulfill your wildest boat building dreams. This 1957 Glen-L Mist Mist for sale is as classic a design as you could choose from them.

The 18 ft. Mist Miss is set up as a “gentleman’s runabout” with two seats in front. Without too much trouble I think you could rework the rear deck and drop on another row for two in if you wanted. This ’57 has been completely restored and is sporting new gauges, gas tank, chrome fixtures, etc. I usually prefer to see some wood grain on the hull for style, but the West Systems Epoxy and PPG paint used here is a practical choice for a home-built boat.. For power, mid-40’s Chrysler M7 Marine Flat 6 Engine is as bulletproof as it comes. Any Chrysler Flat 6 is easy to work on for even an amateur mechanic.

Previous build threads on Glen-L’s site report cost ranging from just shy of $15k to upwards of $25k for Mist Miss builds. If a home built boat is something you’ve thought of but you just don’t have the time, then this 1957 Mist Miss classic woody might be enough to quench your thirst.  At the $7,500 price point it’s a good starting point to say the least.
