1967 Donzi Sweet 16

And just like that here’s the cure for your Monday blues. “Sweet” is an understatement for this all original 1967 Donzi Sweet 16 with numbers matching 289 engine. It’s up for auction with NO RESERVE. This 16 ft. classic, all-original,  Donzi speedboat isn’t just surviving, it is thriving! This vintage Donzi speed boat is 50 years old and has hardly been touched. Spending it’s 5 decades of boating pleasure in freshwater has definitely helped it’s longevity. Sure there’s a little fade in the decals and chrome but it is minimal. Beyond the slight fade you can’t claim it’s anything less than classic boating perfection.

I can just imagine kicking back in that wrap around cockpit passenger seating. Wait, hold on, no I can’t imagine that. In my boating dream of the day I’m in the driver seat, as usual, but you are more than welcome to kick back in that passenger lounge. “Kicking back” would be at your own risk in this little speed boat however, at least at the speed I’m planning on driving. That 289 engine is a high performance beast with Holley 4 barrel carburetor. The small block will rip this 16 footer through the water. When not ripping through the wake I can imagine the “gurgle gurgle gurgle” of the 289 as it begs to be unleashed.

Did I mention the numbers match?! How about it’s all original?!What about it’s a 1967 Sweet 16 Donzi  currently being offered at NO RESERVE?! There are already more than 21 bids on it. With a current bid of $4,050 and 6 days left on the block there is no chance it sells near that price. However for the right buyer it’s worth plenty more than double that.

The wrap around passenger seating of the cockpit is clean and classic Donzi styling at it’s best.

Oh how I wish I had my hand on the throttle of this numbers matching 289 power house.

1971 Sleek Craft Jet Boat

If you’re looking for speed on a budget this is your lucky day. Here’s a 1971 Sleek Craft Jet Boat for sale. Sounds like there was a buyer for this jet boat in line but payment fell through. Well their loss is potentially your gain! I dig the Sleek Craft’s yellow on white color scheme, it’s nice and bright on a sunny day and who goes boating when it’s not sunny anyway? A dual axle trailer will help you get to the lake. The speed boat also includes a bimini top if your passenger needs shade while your beached at the sand bar.

A 455 Oldsmobile engine powers the 19′ jet boat. The seller doesn’t mention top speeds, but with that much muscle on this size boat you know it’s gotta fly. It’s reported that the boat “runs perfectly and starts right up” which is a blatant positive. There is a significant list of parts that were replaced last July, all parts that do come up over time. This jet boat is not perfect however, there are blemishes to the gel coat and side rails. A previous seller clearly had some docking issues on more than one occasion. The seats need to be re-upholstered also. None of that is scaring me away though. With a selling price of just $3,200 you could have everything in mint condition easily with less than a $5,000 budget. So if you feel the need…. here’s your speed, and it’s not going to break the bank.

Blub, blub, blub, blub, gurgle, gurgle, gurgle, gurgle…… VROOOOOOOOM!!!

If this was parked in my driveway on a Saturday morning I’d be smiling from ear to ear and I wouldn’t return from the lake until Sunday night…LATE.

1984 Addictor 190 Deluxe Pair

What I see in this pair of 1984 Addictor 190 Deluxe mini speed boats for sale is FUN, FUN, FUN!. These Addictor speed boats were produced from 1983 to 1996 in California. The mini boats came in 1-, 2- or 3-person set ups and ran outboard motors. The Addictor Boats look part-jet ski, part-motor boat and I’m ALL IN. Jet skis are fun. A standard PWC offers nimble size and quick acceleration, but after a little while I’m usually over them. They are fun, but I’m more of a boat guy. Now if you were to combine the two… the possibilities of how you can have fun on the water are endless. These mini speed boats here look like they’d quench all sorts of aqua-loving appetites.

Throughout their production run, Addictor Boats were powered by Tohatsu outboard motors. One of these Addictor 190s is toting a 30hp outboard, the other an 18hp version. So one of the two  is going to have a little more getty-up. Both Deluxe versions here appear to be rated for 2-passengers.

Are they a little dinged up? You bet! These mini speed boats were meant to bang around and catch some air. You’re addicted to water sports and driving an Addictor? Yeah, you let it all hang out. This is no classic show ready wooden boat, it’s a freaking jet-ski meets speed boat meets runabout. I can’t imagine not having  a blast in these. Both Addictors are available for $8,000 on Ebay. The price is slightly high according to NADA guides. However there are three talking points that justify the asking price for me; they are the “Deluxe” trim, they are in running order, they include a functioning trailer. In reality, nobody has an addiction  to water sports to save money, so I say go for it.

Look closely ladies and gentleman, the badge reads “Deluxe”… WAY more fun the the “Standard” models.

The factory cowlings are included. Play a trick on your friend by swapping the 30hp for the 18hp and leave them in your wake wondering WTH is going…

1992 Donzi 22 Classic Speed Boat

You want style, you want a classic and you want speed. Then you need to look into a used Donzi speed boat. Donzi Marine Inc. has been kicking out classic speed boats since they were founded in 1964. Even their newer models are rocking vintage style for days, and this 1992 Donzi 22 Classic Speed Boat is no different. What is different is the price tag. A model year 2018 Donzi 22 Classic is going to come in around $90k.  This 22 ft. speed boat here comes in with a “Buy it Now” price of $15k. While the length isn’t suitable to say Florida offshore cruising. It’s plenty capable for anything inland, including Great Lakes cruising.

A quick search on Nada Guides shows this price coming in a little high, but this speed boat is super clean. It appears to be a 100% turnkey boat so it’s all relative. Unless you want to do some wrenching of your own you’re going to have to pay up a little for vintage speed boat that’s ready to enjoy. The interior is immaculate with bright white throughout, perfect for bright hot summer days. Sporting a 454 Magnum engine you’ll turn heads a mile away with this classic Donzi.

1974 Chrysler Conqueror S-III Super Bee

The seller of this 1974 Chrysler Conqueror S-III Super Bee speedboat says he’s not a “boat guy”. Well sucks to be him. This vintage Chrysler boat rocks mid-70s americana style with a red, white and blue color scheme. With a vintage Chrysler 340 engine spinning the prop this 19 ft. powerboat will surely scoot. There are more positives to this Chrysler Conqueror and it deserves a good home.

Many items have been restored on this vintage Chrysler Super Bee. The trailer has a new powder coat, wiring and lights. The interior upholstery and windshield have been replace. Now, the seller might not be a “boat guy”, but they definitely know how to prep a project for the market. It appears to be the total speed boat package and ready to enjoy. All you need to complement this boat are stars and stripes bikini-clad passengers, the right pair of shades and a sand bar. For $15k this 1974 Chrysler could be yours. All you’d need is to fill up the gas tank, pack a cooler, and your Fourth of July celebration is planned. You’re welcome!

1979 Pioneer Jet Boat

The only thing missing from this 1979 Pioneer Jet Boat are the letters spelling “SUCK MY WAKE!” on the side of it. “Hey kids, what do you say we go into town tomorrow and Uncle Roman will blow some coin on a kick ass drag boat?!” This 19ft. speedboat is powered by a pro built Gen. IV 454 Big Block Chevy bored and stroked to 506ci. The Chevy engine is producing 700hp that will push this Pioneer to 90mph. Fast is an understatement with this Pioneer and I can’t believe it’s a ’79. It looks brand spanking new!

The 1979 Pioneer Jet Boat appears to have all the bells and whistles if a speedboat is what you are looking for. To top it off there are just 25 hours on the entire package; boat engine, trailer, etc.. Seller says there is a video of the Jet Boat “hauling ass”,  worth a view if your are truly interested in setting the water on fire with this rocket.

For more leisurely boaters who are in Uncle Chet’s camp from the movie Great Outdoors this might just be “too much boat.” In this case I side with Uncle Roman and respond accordingly as he would with “what the hell are you gonna do with a pontoon boat?!”

Everything about this Pioneer Jet Boat is clean. The bright white seats contrast nicely with the dark gray/silver flames on the hull.

1988 COLE Performance Super Hawk Speedboat

One movie quote to sum up this 1988 COLE Performance Super Hawk – “I feel the need, the need for SPEED!” That’s right, from the 1986 hit movie Top Gun. The Tom Cruise fighter pilot classic and this COLE Performance Speedboat were released just two years apart so I’m feeling period correct with the correlation. This Super Hawk looks downright FAST! I want to jump in the drivers seat and burn through one of the 30+ gallon fuel tanks at full speed. Come back to the dock for the patented Maverick/Goose high-five low-five action with whomever is co-piloting for me that day. Then jump back in the driver’s seat and dispose of that second  tank through the 454 Magnum Mercruiser this Super Hawk is packing.

The current bid seems more than reasonable at $14,500. Even the Buy It Now Price for the Super Hawk is fair at $16,500. It’s a turnkey ’88 COLE Performance Speedboat that’s  ready to fly. We covered the 454 Magnum Mercruiser but didn’t mention the Bravo Outdrive, custom stereo, VDO gauges, custom lights, and there’s much more. Seller describes it as a Speedboat/Sport/Ski Boat that does 70-80 mph… if it’s me I’m leaving the skis at home, pumping “Danger Zone” through the sound system and only backing off the throttle to fuel up. If Top Gun had been a screenplay about high performance speedboats, this is the boat Maverick would driving.

1985 Hydrostream Vegas XT Yamaha 225 VMAX

One of a kind 1985 Hydrostream Vegas XT with a 225 Yamaha VMAX, ummm – YES PLEASE?! I didn’t need a sip of coffee here this morning after coming across this fast little bastard just an hour into the auction. This 225 VMAX powered ’85 Hydrostream kicked my ass right into gear! CLEAN custom speedboat with great color, custom cowling graphics to match, slick trailer with custom aluminum wheels,  mint interior w/ room for 4 passengers, JL Audio bluetooth stereo, 2 stainless props (one for cruising, one for thrills) and the list goes on. Green LED Lighting, while I’m usually not a fan, bring it on in this case! It’s a Hydrostream Vegas, the neon lighting fits it perfect, and remember what happens in Vegas… I love everything about it other than it’s not  mine.

If looks and options weren’t enough, the seller reports the Hydrostream Vegas XT will do 92mph which is scary fast on water. Find a local radar run, strap on a helmet, hit that throttle and show everyone WTF is up!

NADA reports an average retail on these ’85 Hydrostreams around $2,450 and suggests a list price around $6,600. Opening bid on this one is $100 of course with nothing on the books yet. It deserves to go for up around that list price, wouldn’t be surprised if it creeps higher with that. Who knows, it’s early on but no ones watching it yet. With no reason for selling reported it could be urgent, maybe you can swoop under the radar and snag it for a steal. Oh wait, there’s one person watching now…. THIS GUY!!!

1987 Talon 21

This huil looks like something from Star Wars. The listing for this 1987 Talon 21 includes my favorite boat-buying cautionary note ever: Buyer will need knowledge of aircraft turbines and hydraulics to safely complete and operate this boat. This hull was custom made at the Talon factory in 1987 and was purpose-built for the turbine motor. This was an experimental project. The goal was to make a turbine driven boat driveable at all speeds. (especially low speeds). The turbine is an Allison 250 C18 from a bell helicopter. It starts like a jet engine and runs like a powerboat. The boat has been in storage since 1999 and it may take some work to get it running. But that’s no problem, because you’re an airplane mechanic, right? This 1987 Talon 21 is located in St. Petersburg, Florida, and it’s listed on eBay with an opening bid of $10,000.

It looks a little like C3PO as a transformer, and this one-of-a-kind 1987 Talon 21 is packing an Allison turbine engine out of a Bell helicopter.

1973 Eliminator flatbottom

This 1973 Eliminator flatbottom has great lines. It looks like a surf board with a giant motor on the back. That’s actually not far from reality. Great color on this Eliminator. It’s a beauttiful shade of blue and the stripes and all-white interior give it clean, classic hot rod feel – appropriate on a boat built for the sole purpose of going fast. That’s a 454 Chevy big block on the back of this 19-foot hull. Everything is in good shape. This 1973 is down in Denton, Texas, and you can Buy It Now for $11,000.

Such smooth lines on this Eliminator. It’s ready to go fast, and the 454 Chevy big block should satisfy your need for speed.
